About the Chamber

The Prescott Board of Trade was formed in 1893, at which time it's main industries were Labatt, McCarthy's Breweries, and J.P. Wiser & Sons Distillery. The era introduced electric lighting, the first Bell Telephone installations, and the beginning of construction on the Town's first water and sewage systems.

The Board of Trade promoted growth and progress of the Town as a shipping, rail and retail trading centre. The Board had the full backing of the business community, and although it suffered some periodic lapses of interest over the next century, it remains today, a united force dedicated to the prosperity of the community.

The original Board of Trade was changed to the Prescott Chamber of Commerce in 1931, and to the Prescott and District Chamber of Commerce in 1990.

To date the Chamber has over 150 members from the Town of Prescott,  the Township of Augusta and Township of Edwardsburg/Cardinal. Although being part of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, it is locally that the Chamber is most effective.  For well over a century its Directors and members have been influential in directing the area's growth, economic development, tourism and quality of life for the community. Through our growing membership and involvement in projects and events in the community the Chamber of Commerce is committed to promoting it's members and their businesses and services, striving to make our community a better place to live, work and play.I'm a paragraph.
