Our History:

The Prescott Board of Trade was formed in 1893, at which time it's main industries were Labatt, McCarthy's Breweries, and J.P. Wiser & Sons Distillery. The era introduced electric lighting, the first Bell Telephone installations, and the beginning of construction on the Town's first water and sewage systems.
The Board of Trade promoted growth and progress of the Town as a shipping, rail and retail trading center and had the full backing of the business community. Although it suffered some periodic lapses of interest over the next century, we are continuing to build a united force dedicated to the prosperity of the local business community.
In 1925, recognizing the need for a collective voice to advocate for Canadian businesses, the Prescott Board of Trade joined a group of leaders who convened in Winnipeg to establish the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, then known as the Canadian Board of Trade.
The Prescott Board of Trade was changed to the Prescott Chamber of Commerce in 1931, and to the Prescott and District Chamber of Commerce in 1990. In 2011, we adopted the name South Grenville Chamber of Commerce in order to fully represent all three Townships within our geographical area.
To date the Chamber has over 60 members from the Town of Prescott, Township of Augusta and Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal. We partner with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Ontario Chamber of Commerce, South Dundas Chamber of Commerce, North Grenville Chamber of Commerce and Brockville Chamber of Commerce to continually be a positive influence within our business community. For well over a century, our directors and members have been influential in continuing the area's growth, economic development, tourism and quality of life.

On October 21 2024, the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce assumed ownership of the Fort Town Night Run which has been established as an eagerly awaited community charitable event historically run by Michel Larose.

Through our growing membership, involvement in projects, collaboration with local chambers and support of community events, the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce continually strives to make our community a better place to live, grow and thrive.
